Woody is a Community Interest Company (C.I.C.) that was set up by a group of local volunteers back in 2012. Our aim is to help manage woodlands in the borough of Hyndburn in east Lancashire and to provide products made from our woodland management arisings. We also want to help educate Hyndburn residents about the importance of woodlands and provide training in woodland crafts for the community.
We are a friendly group who want to help manage our local woodlands. We all enjoy being outside and want to do something positive to help our local environment and help create a sustainable woodland economy in the borough.
We meet up almost every Friday throughout the year on various woodland sites across Hyndburn. We tend to start at 10.00am and finish about 4.30pm.
Woody (Hyndburn) C.I.C. was established in March 2012 with the help of the PROSPECTS Foundation, Hyndburn’s environmental charity.
At the moment we’re a voluntary group but we do pay towards 0.5 days a week support from the Charity Manager at the Prospects Foundation. This covers his time in securing contracts and administration work such as risk assessments, insurance, annual accounts, financial returns and compliance with C.I.C. regulations.
